The Team

Dr. Simon Sieber studied at EPFL in Lausanne, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Chemistry, completing his master’s thesis in London with Prof. Deniz Tasdemir on the isolation of new natural products. In 2011, he began his PhD at the University of Basel under Prof. Karl Gademann guidance, focusing on the isolation and synthesis of natural products. Simon then moved to Zurich for a postdoctoral research position with Prof. Shana Sturla at ETH Zurich, where he investigated biotransformation reactions catalyzed by gut microbiota. In 2016, he joined the University of Zurich as a senior scientist in the group of Prof. Dr. Karl Gademann. Throughout his career, Simon has contributed to the isolation and structural elucidation of fourteen novel natural products, received several competitive research grants, including the SNSF Spark grant, and authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications.
